what's in soap?
What's
in your soap dish right now? Is it a soap or is it a detergent?
Has it ever....personally irritated you?
Just so
you know, most of the bath soap that you buy at the store is actually a
petroleum-based synthesized chemical detergent rather than an
oil-based soap. Most commercial soaps also have artificial scents
and colors, and are often quite irritating to sensitive skin. Commercial "soap" is made this way because it is cheaper and easier to produce than
real soap. Detergent is fine for scrubbing pots and pans, but why treat your skin this way? Would you take a brillo pad to soft, sensitive skin? Of course not...so why would you use a harsh chemical cleanser?
What's in our soaps? Here's our ingredient list: Saponified Organic
Oils of Olive, Coconut, Palm, Castor, and Soy; Organic Essential Oils;
Oatmeal and Dried Herbs (Exfoliants). That's it. The "organic" part
is important. That means no chemicals, pesticides, or artificial
fertilizers used in the growing process. No genetically modified
organisms (GMOs). No propylene glycol (it causes cancer...and it's in
all kinds of things) or other petroleum products. No chemical fillers,
irritating artificial colors or scents, or stripping surfactants. In
other words, nothing bad. Only good stuff. Check out our current product line here.
Because they're all-natural, our health and beauty aids actually
maintain your health and your beauty!
We strongly encourage the use of natural bath and body products. The amount
of chemicals we put in contact with our bodies on a daily basis is
astounding; and the easiest way to absorb chemicals (aside from
ingesting them) is to rub them against your skin. And what do you do
with soap when you bathe? You rub it against your skin every day,
possibly twice a day!
For your own health and safety, regardless of
whether you have dry or sensitive skin, chemical allergies, rashes, or
other conditions, please consider using natural soaps, deodorants,
toothpastes, shaving creams, perfumes, cosmetics, and hair and skin
products. We consider our soaps to be the first step in our line of
natural products; we are in development stages to bring you a full array
of natural bath and body products.
People often hear about naturally made soap and wonder if our soap contains lye.
The answer is a definitive no! The soap making process is
a chemical process called saponification where lye (sodium
hydroxide) is mixed with water and oil at a specific temperature,
causing a chemical change. Soap is like a fine wine, it gets better with
age. Once the soap has properly cured (to us, that means at least a
month), there is no lye whatsoever in the finished product. Being
chemically sensitive individuals ourselves, we take extra care and
caution in our soaps to ensure that our soap making process is safe, and
that our finished product is non-allergenic. Find out more
about us.
Feel good about what you put on and in your body. Love yourself. We love
ourselves. I love mice elf. ilovemiceelf!
